Informazioni generali
Over the past few decades, breeders of the Entlebucher Mountain Dog have noticed a decrease in their dogs’ litter size. Litters have decreased from an average of 6.2 puppies in the 1980s to 5.4 in the 2010s. This decrease in fertility has been linked in part to a mutation on the gene GDF9.
Caratteristiche cliniche
Dogs carrying at least one copy of the mutant allele are more likely to give birth to a smaller litter size.
Informazioni aggiuntive
Fertility/fecundity is a multifactorial trait, which depends on many different genes and on other factors.
