Informazioni generali
Persisten Müllerian Duct Syndrome (PMDS) is an unusual disorder that can cause affected males to develop female reproductive organs alongside their male ones. The specific variant of the disorder analysed in this test, found in the Miniature Schnauzer, is caused by a recessive mutation to the gene AMHR2.
Caratteristiche cliniche
Affected male dogs are born with a partial female reproductive system: in some cases, Fallopian tubes, a uterus, and an upper vagina leading to the prostate. They also have a complete male reproductive system. However, they might present with cryptorchidism (undescended/missing testes).
